    Question

I need to adjust the valves in my 96 Teg, and I'm going to try to accomplish this daunting smile task by myself. I assume that a well trained monkey could do this, so I'm going to give it a shot.

First off, I'm going to need a new valve cover gasket... are there any others that are necessary? I also will buy a decent quality feeler guage.

What are the stock specs for a B18B valve adjust? Are the intake and exhaust different? Is there some setting which is better than stock??

Also, any hints/tricks/tips to doing this??

    Thanks in advance to all!!!!

No worries man, it aint that hard.

Standard tools are all thats needed, and there is plenty of room for a flat wrench in my B18B.

You wont need a new gasket if you are careful, just get gasket sealant. Just get ready to get your tools and hands really covered in oil.

    Thanks!!!

Let the fun begin... I did this on my old CRX and all went well, so I suppose my Integra will work OK... I will get the valve cover gasket, plug donuts. and the washers.

More gaskets: "Donuts" for spark plug wells & similar for under valve cover nuts. Consider replacing the camshaft plug too - you have to take off the camshaft caps to do it.
The lock nut is hard to tighten without rotating the inner adjustment stud. If you know someone with an old dirt-bike tool kit, they might have a hollow 12mm socket. This allows you to hold the stud while tightening the lock nut - there's no room for flat wrenches in there.

You don't need new valve gasket, that donut shape gasket etc..if your old valve gasket is not broken/leaking etc...just use some gasket silicon sealant before you reintall them and everything will be fine. Mine is a '95 GSR and I've done valve adjustment at least 5 times already...still using the same old gasket without a problem...no oil leaks.

If you have the valve adjustment tool already, use that. Otherwise, let me know, I'll show you a trick on how to fabricate one. Not as good as the store made tool but it works very well...for free smile
